Ganpati Festival Immersion Processions: Amidst the festivities of Ganpati Bappa in Mumbai, now it is the turn of immersion of the deity. Mumbai Police is fully prepared for Ganpati immersion. 23,400 policemen have been deployed for security. 2,900 police officers and 20,500 policemen are ready on the day of immersion. 40 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) and 56 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) will be deployed for security to prevent untoward incidents.

The immersion will take place on Tuesday (17 September). During the immersion of Ganpati Bappa, the help of State Reserve Police Force, Rapid Action Force, Riot Control Squad will also be taken. Special police deployment has been done at sensitive places. CCTV cameras and drone cameras will keep an eye on the immersion procession in Mumbai. Special attention will be given to the safety of women and children.

Special security for immersion of Lalbaug Ka Raja

According to a PTI report, during the immersion, all senior officials including the Mumbai Police Commissioner will be present at ground zero. At the same time, there will be special police security for the immersion of Lalbaug’s Raja. Giving information, a police officer said, “Important immersion sites like Girgaon Chowpatty, Dadar, Bandra, Juhu, Versova, Powai Lake and Madh Island will be monitored by drones.”

Special arrangements to avoid traffic jam

A large number of devotees flock to the streets to watch the immersion procession. In such a situation, special arrangements have been made in view of the possible traffic jam. The police will create a ‘green corridor’ for uninterrupted movement of vehicles and connectivity between the eastern and western suburbs. This corridor will be for those traveling for essential and emergency services. The coastal road will also remain open 24 hours.

During the Ganpati immersion procession, entry on some roads will be restricted and some routes will be made one-way. At the same time, some routes will also be changed. The police has advised Mumbaikars to be cautious and avoid falling prey to rumors in any way.

At least 12 old bridges on the Central and Western Railway lines are in a dangerous condition. The official has said that Ganesh Mandals have been advised to take precautionary measures while using them and avoid crowding at these places.
