Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Saturday that within the next two days the National Board of Examinations (NBE) will announce the new schedule of NEET-PG. NEET-PG is one of the exams that were canceled last week as a precautionary measure amid the controversy over irregularities in competitive exams. Pradhan gave this information to the media in Panchkula during the meeting of the extended state executive of Haryana BJP. A day earlier, the NTA had announced the dates of the three canceled exams.

‘Congress is running away from discussion, only spreading confusion’

On the issue of NEET, Pradhan said, “Congress does not want a discussion. They are running away from it. They only want to spread chaos and confusion and create obstacles in the whole functioning of the institutional mechanism. The President himself has addressed the issue that Congress wants to debate. We have to look at the challenges and shortcomings in the process, while acknowledging them.”

‘NTA gets new leadership, reforms made’

The Education Minister said, on behalf of the government, I have clearly said that we are ready for any kind of discussion. But the Congress does not want to resolve the issue of the students. They want the matter to keep burning. Such issues have come up even before 2014. But I cannot justify it. NTA has got new leadership. Reforms have been done in NTA under the leadership of former ISRO chief K. Radhakrishnan. We have made a new law to resolve this issue and the entire matter has been handed over to the CBI. He said, new dates of the examination were announced yesterday, which were postponed or cancelled. New dates of NEET-PG will be announced by Monday-Tuesday.

‘The question paper was leaked on the darknet’

The University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) exam was held on June 18, but was canceled a day later. The exam will now be held afresh from August 21 to September 4. The exam was canceled after the Ministry of Education received information that the sanctity of the exam had been compromised. Pradhan had said that the question paper was leaked on the darknet and made public on the Telegram app. The CBI is investigating the matter. CSIR UGC-NET was postponed as a precautionary measure. Now this exam will be held from July 25 to July 27.

The National Common Entrance Test (NCET) for admission to the four-year Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP) in IITs, NITs, RIEs and government colleges as well as select central and state universities or institutions will now be held on July 10. This exam was earlier scheduled to be held on June 12, but it was postponed a few hours before the scheduled time.
