Former Pakistan cricketer said- I am not against Babar Azam but he should leave the captaincy…

New Delhi. After the poor performance in the World Cup 2023, questions are being raised on Pakistan captain Babar Azam. Talking about the World Cup, Pakistan team could win only 4 out of 9 matches and could not reach even the semi-finals. After Pakistan’s exit from the World Cup, former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik has advised Babar Azam to leave the captaincy and asked him to focus on batting.

Shoaib Malik while talking on A Sports said, “I am not against Babar Azam. But does he feel that he can handle the pressure of both captaincy and batting simultaneously? We don’t think so. Because captaincy has affected his batting. I feel that Babar Azam can become a better batsman than a captain. Therefore, my advice would be that he should leave captaincy and focus on his batting.”

Ind vs Nz: Before the semi-finals, someone close to ‘Hitman’ said – I will be proud if I see the trophy in Rohit’s hand.

Let us tell you that Babar Azam was made the captain of the limited overs team for the first time in 2019. Then in the year 2021, he also took over the captaincy of the Test team. Till now he has led the Pakistan team in 2 Asia Cups, 2 T20 World Cups and the current ODI World Cup, but he has failed to win even a single title for the team. Last year, he was successful in taking his team to the final in the 2022 T20 World Cup. But England had defeated them.

World Cup 2023 was nothing special for Babar Azam. Along with captaincy, he could not show anything special with his bat either. He scored a total of 320 runs in 9 matches at an average of 40 in the World Cup. His highest score has been 74. It will be interesting to see what decision the Pakistan Cricket Board takes on Babar’s captaincy.
