Ashok Gehlot on New Criminal Laws: Three new criminal laws are being implemented in the entire country including Rajasthan from July 1. At the same time, the laws of IPC and CrPC will be abolished from today. With the implementation of the new law, FIR of any crime can be registered in any police station. Meanwhile, the reaction of former Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot has also come to the fore. He posted on his social media account X and wrote that the Indian Judicial Code, which is being implemented from July 1 in place of IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act, needs a comprehensive review.

The former CM further wrote that the laws made in this code are like making the country a police state. These laws should be sent to the committee formed by the new MPs for a comprehensive review and the opinion of all stakeholders should be taken.

These laws are coming into effect from today
The three new criminal laws that are being implemented in the country from today are the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS), the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and the Indian Evidence Act (BSA). Let us tell you that these three laws were introduced during the monsoon session of Parliament in the year 2023. Which will come into force in the country from today. The new law Indian Justice Code will replace the IPC law which has been in force for 163 years from today. Due to which the punishment will be made more stringent in dangerous crimes like national security and terrorism.

These changes will happen from today
• In cases of sexual harassment, the report must be submitted within seven days.
• FIR will be lodged or strict action will be taken within 3 days of filing the online complaint.
• Hearing from FIR to court decision will be completely online.
• There will be a provision for framing charges within 60 days before the first hearing in the court.
• There will be a provision to file a case against fugitive criminals within 90 days.
• In criminal cases, the decision must be taken within 45 days of completion of the hearing.
• Forensic investigation will be mandatory in crimes with punishment of more than 7 years.
