Flood in Nepal: There is havoc due to rain in Nepal. At least 66 people have died and more than 50 have been injured due to floods and landslides caused by incessant rains in Nepal. Officials gave information about the damage caused by rain on Saturday (September 28). It was reported that 69 people were missing and 226 houses were destroyed. Many parts of Nepal have been receiving heavy rains since Thursday (September 26), due to which disaster officials have issued a warning of flash floods.
Nepal Police Deputy Spokesperson Bishvo Adhikari said that due to continuous rains, 59 people died in Nepal, 34 of them in Kathmandu Valley. He told that 36 people were also injured in the flood. He said that a total of 44 people are missing across the country, out of which 16 are missing in Kathmandu Valley. It was told that more than one thousand people have also been saved.
Main highways blocked
Officials said that the rain continues in Nepal due to which road traffic has come to a complete standstill. It was told that main highways have been blocked at 44 places across the country. Meanwhile, Caretaker Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakash Man Singh has called an emergency meeting of various ministers including the Home Minister, Home Secretary and heads of security agencies and directed them to speed up the search and rescue operations.
Electricity supply was also affected
Due to floods in Nepal, power supply has been disrupted due to which there was power failure throughout the day in Kathmandu but power supply was restored in the evening. Police said that 226 houses have been submerged in Kathmandu and a rescue team of about three thousand security personnel has been deployed by Nepal Police in the affected areas. Rescue and relief work is going on on war footing. At the same time, people have also been appealed to be careful and alert.
