Terrorists are constantly trying to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir. Five security personnel including an army officer were injured in a brief encounter with terrorists in Desa forest area of Doda district on Monday. The condition of the injured is critical and they have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Security forces have cordoned off the area. Additional security forces have been sent to the spot. A Jammu and Kashmir Police employee is also among the injured.
The officials said the encounter started when troops of the Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint cordon and search operation at Dhari Gote Urarbagi in Desa forest area at around 7.45 pm.
“Based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation by Army and Police was underway in the general area north of Doda. At about 9 pm, contact was established with the terrorists following which heavy exchange of fire took place. Initial reports suggest that our jawans have been injured. Additional troops have been moved to the area,” the Army’s White Knight Corps wrote in a post on Twitter.
