The Enforcement Directorate (ED) told the special court that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and co-accused Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader K. were arrested in the money laundering case related to excise policy. There is enough evidence to prosecute Kavita. The ED made this argument in support of the issue of taking cognizance of its supplementary charge sheets filed against the two political leaders. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of Rouse Avenue Court will continue to hear arguments on this issue on Tuesday.

The judge also extended Kavita’s judicial custody till June 2 in the corruption and money laundering case. He was produced in the court through video conferencing. Apart from Kavita, supplementary charge sheet has been filed against three others. The court is hearing the charge sheet filed against Kavita and others. After that it will hear the supplementary charge sheet filed against Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party.

The court has reserved its decision on the issue of Gautam Malhotra, accused in the same case, going abroad. She will give her verdict on this on May 24. Gautam Malhotra has filed an application in the court seeking permission to go to UK and Spain. They want to visit both the places from June 18 to July 20. ED had arrested him on February 7.
