New Delhi. Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf resigned from the post of national selector on Sunday 29 September citing personal reasons. He announced this decision suddenly. Yusuf shared this information on his social media. His source said that he was upset with the constant criticism he was receiving.
Yusuf wrote on ‘X’, “I announce my resignation as selector of Pakistan cricket team due to personal reasons. It has been wonderful for me to serve this wonderful team. I am proud to have contributed to the growth and success of Pakistan cricket. I have great confidence in the talent and passion of my players. This team will continue its efforts to improve and I wish the team all the best.
Yousuf has been associated with Pakistan Cricket Board in various roles since last year. He was part of the national selection committee which includes two former Test players, the head coach, the captain and an analyst. Yousuf has also served as the batting coach of the national senior team and head coach of the Pakistan Under-19 team in the last two years. Let us tell you that in the year 2005, Yusuf had left Christianity and adopted Muslim religion.
A source close to Yusuf said that the former batsman was not happy with his criticism. He was most disappointed by the criticism he received from the junior players of PCB. He was uncomfortable with being regularly ridiculed in the media and social media and felt that it would be better for him to focus only on coaching.
