Our Solar System Of all the planets in the universe, Saturn looks different from the rest. What makes Saturn special is the rings around it. Scientists believe that something similar must have existed on Earth at some point. Reports According to a paper published last week in Earth and Planetary Science Letters, Publish It has happened. In that, scientists have presented evidence that a ring existed on Earth too. However, millions of years have passed since then. Scientists believe that the ring around the Earth was formed about 46.6 crore years ago. It existed for a few crore years.

Before moving ahead with the news, we should understand how rings are formed. According to the report, when a small body like an asteroid passes near a larger body i.e. a planet, it gets pulled by the planet due to gravity. After coming very close, it breaks into small pieces. In this way, pieces of asteroids turn into a ring of debris around the planet.

Over time, this debris falls on the planet and craters are formed. Scientists believe that about 466 million years ago, many asteroids hit our planet. Because of that, many craters were formed on Earth.

The special thing is that Saturn is not the only planet that has rings. Jupiter, Neptune and Uranus are also believed to have rings, which are not very clear. Scientists also believe that Mars’ small moons like Phobos and Deimos may be part of some of its old rings.

Scientists believe that the rings on Earth must have been around its equator. This is because 21 such craters have been discovered on Earth that were formed due to the collision of asteroids. All these are on those continents, which were close to the equator 466 million years ago.

However, scientists still have to do a lot of work on this study. They also have to find out that 466 million years ago, it became very cold on Earth. This ring on Earth was responsible for that cold. Scientists now want to prepare such mathematical models, which will tell about the breaking and expansion of the asteroid. This will tell how cold can be caused on the planet due to a ring.
