The Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted bail to an alleged drug peddler in the 2021 Mumbai-based Cardelia Cruises case. The court found that there was uncertainty in the seizure of the contraband, which prima facie could lead to his acquittal.
A single bench of Justice NJ Jamdar granted bail to Abdul Kader Shaikh, who has been in jail for more than two years, on a bond of Rs 1 lakh. Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan was also arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a high-profile case. Later the High Court granted him bail. Aryan was not made an accused after all.
Shaikh was accused of supplying narcotics to some co-accused in the case. NCB had claimed that it had seized narcotics from Sheikh at the time of his arrest. The high court, in its order, said there was a prima facie discrepancy in the description of the drug allegedly seized from Shaikh and the sample collected from him and the sample received by CFSL for analysis.
