US Orders Doomsday Plane: The US Air Force has given a contract to aircraft manufacturing company Sierra Nevada Corporation to build a new plane in place of the E-4B plane. This contract is worth 13 billion dollars. This plane is also known as Doomsday Plane which has the ability to survive a nuclear war. Its specialty is that in case of any kind of nuclear attack, this plane can keep the President of America safe.
According to Reuters report, an Air Force spokesperson said in a statement, the objective of the Survivable Airborne Operations Center (SAOC) project is to replace the old aircraft of the 1970s, whose service life is about to end. America currently has 4 such aircraft which are about to retire. The Air Force said work on SAOC will be done in Colorado, Nevada and Ohio and is expected to be completed in 2036.
What is the specialty of Doomsday plane?
These planes will be equipped with weapon systems and will be state-of-the-art planes. The E-4B has been designed as a mobile command post that will be able to withstand the effects of nuclear explosions and electromagnets. In any emergency situation, instructions can be given to the army in the air itself. These planes are used for the US President and Defense Secretary. Doomsday planes are capable of refueling in the air and will have the facility of conference as well as briefing room inside it.
How dangerous is the Doomsday Plane?
If we talk about some other features of the American Doomsday, it has been designed in such a way that it is not affected by a nuclear attack and at the same time it also protects the people sitting inside the plane from radiation. The windows in the plane are nominal. Many satellite dishes and antennas are installed in the plane, through which ships, warships and submarines can be contacted in case of emergency.
