According to India Today report, many groups had gathered at one place in Dhaka and other cities on Friday evening to celebrate Trump’s victory. These groups displayed banners and posters supporting Trump, which read, “Mr. President Donald Trump loves Bangladesh.” But the police took immediate action and confiscated these banners and stopped the parade.

Bangladeshi army and police also conducted late night raids, in which many people were detained. According to India Today report, the arrested people were ordinary citizens and had no connection with any political party. Trump said in his statement, “I strongly condemn the barbaric violence against Hindus, Christians and other minorities in Bangladesh, which is in a state of complete anarchy. This would never have happened on my watch.”
