Former US President Donald Trump has appealed to dismiss the case against him of conspiring to overturn the 2020 election results. Trump has appealed to the federal judge regarding this and has cited a recent decision of the Supreme Court in its favor.

The Supreme Court has ordered US District Judge Tanya Chutkan to charge Trump with corruptly obstructing an official proceeding, lawyers for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump argued in a court filing. Trump is accused of trying to disrupt the Congress session by creating a fake list of presidential electors who pledged to support him in the states where he was defeated. It then pressured then-Vice President Mike Pence to accept those Trump-supporting electors while Pence was presiding over the certification.
