Lord Ganesha and Mother Lakshmi are worshiped on this day. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi comes to earth on this day. Apart from wearing new clothes, decorating houses and worshiping with full rituals, there is another thing that people do and that is burning firecrackers. On this day, everyone from children to adults burn firecrackers, but if you live in Delhi then this news becomes very important for you because you must know what are the rules regarding burning firecrackers here. So let’s know about this…

What does the rule say?

  • If you live in Delhi, then like last few years, this year too you will not be able to burst crackers on the occasion of Diwali. Delhi Government’s Pollution Control Committee has issued a guideline regarding bursting of firecrackers in Delhi, in which it has been clearly stated that this time also we will not be able to burn firecrackers in Delhi.

If you make a mistake you may get into trouble

  • There is a complete ban on bursting of firecrackers in Delhi till January 1, 2025. In such a situation, if you burst firecrackers anytime between this Diwali or January 1, 2025, then appropriate action can be taken against you. In this, you can be fined Rs 200 or you can be jailed for up to 6 months.

That’s why it has been banned

  • If you are wondering why bursting of firecrackers is banned in Delhi for the last few years as soon as Diwali arrives? So this is done because even before Diwali arrives, the air quality in Delhi reaches very poor levels. In such a situation, if firecrackers are burnt then the situation may become worse. Therefore, this decision has started being taken since last few years.

This is an option

  • As per the rules, you cannot burn firecrackers in Delhi, but you have an option and that is green firecrackers. Green crackers make less noise and also cause less pollution than other crackers. Therefore, you can burn these firecrackers this Diwali, but you can burn them only within the stipulated time i.e. from 8 pm to 10 pm.
