What is the number of coins found?
Exactly how many coins have been found has not yet been determined, as they are being sorted. In a statement from the ministry, it has been estimated that considering their total weight, the number of coins will be at least around 30 thousand to 50 thousand. The ministry said, ‘All the coins were in a rare state of preservation. Some of these coins were also damaged.

Luigi La Rocca, an officer in the Sardinian archeology department, said: ‘The treasure found in the waters of Arzachena is one of the most important coin discoveries in recent years.’ He further said, ‘This discovery is another proof of the richness and importance of archaeological heritage.’ Firefighter divers and Border Police divers were also involved in locating and retrieving the coins.
