Delhi News: Incidents of fighting between youths of two communities have come to light in Nand Nagri area of North East Delhi. According to the information, some youth were going on bike to participate in Valmiki Jayanti in Nand Nagari area. On the way, some youth from a particular community stopped him near a mosque. Some youths riding the bike fled from the spot, while two were beaten severely by people of a particular community for raising religious slogans.
According to media reports, on the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti, 19-year-old Ankit and his friend Sidhu, riding on different motorcycles, were beaten up by people of a particular community for raising slogans while passing through a religious place on the evening of 28 October. Delhi Police said that the victims were admitted to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in injured condition.
The victim youth had come to participate in the procession
According to North East Delhi DCP Joy Tirkey, a PCR call was received at 6.40 pm on Saturday evening. The caller said that some people were beating his brother. A team was sent to the spot. By the time the team reached there, the attackers had fled from the spot. Preliminary investigation revealed that Ankit had come with his friends from Dilshad Garden to Nand Nagri to participate in Valmiki Jayanti.

According to the DCP, Ankit and his 10 to 11 friends were riding on five to six two-wheelers and were about half a kilometer away from the procession. He chose the E-Block route to reach the procession. There was a mosque on the way, which is never used for the Valmiki Jayanti procession. This area is dominated by people of other communities. DCP said that Ankit and Sidhu were raising some slogans. They were stopped by some people from a different community near E-Block Mosque, while Ankit’s friends managed to escape from there.
Police detained some suspects
According to Delhi Police, during this time there was a dispute between the youth over sloganeering. Youths from a particular community beat up two people. Their motorcycles were also vandalized. After this incident, adequate security was provided to the Valmiki Jayanti procession. Two inspector-rank officers and other policemen were accompanying the procession. DCP said that the police is busy in identifying the accused of assault. Some suspects have been detained. The police station is investigating further in this matter.
