Delhi University News: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Sunday alleged that some NSUI members, including Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) vice-president Abhi Dahiya, vandalised the students’ union office in the North Campus. Police said it has received a complaint and will lodge an FIR.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) M.K. Meena said, ‘A complaint has been received at the Maurice Nagar police station. The police will investigate the matter and take action accordingly.’
According to a statement by the RSS-backed student organisation ABVP, Dahiya, a member of the National Students Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress, and others vandalised the offices and visitor’s room of DUSU president Tushar Dedha, DUSU secretary Aparajita, DUSU joint secretary Sachin Baisla on Sunday morning. The ABVP alleged that the attackers first consumed alcohol in the office of DUSU vice-president Abhi Dahiya and then vandalised the DUSU office.
Demand to remove Dahiya from the post of vice president
The ABVP shared a video of Dahiya’s office which showed some empty bottles. The group also shared some recordings of the offices. The student organisation demanded the Delhi University administration to remove Dahiya from the post of vice-president. The NSUI denied the allegations and accused the ABVP of vandalising the union vice-president’s office. Dahiya said in a statement, “Last night several ABVP members attacked my office in Delhi University. Their reaction came after I exposed the fake degrees of an ABVP official and DUSU president.
ABVP should make CCTV footage public – NSUI
He said, ‘ABVP is conspiring to defame me and NSUI. Dahiya has threatened ABVP with legal action. He has also said that he will expose this conspiracy by bringing out the truth in the court. He also demanded that the CCTV footage of the incident be made public.
