Delhi News: Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora on Wednesday said drafting laws, especially making new criminal laws, is a challenging endeavour. However, implementing these laws is equally challenging. During the launch of a four-day training module focused training program for officers to adopt the new criminal laws passed by the Parliament i.e. Indian Judicial Code 2023, Indian Civil Defense Code 2023 and Indian Evidence Act 2023, the CP said that the newly established laws will be effectively implemented. To implement, it is important to understand the underlying reasons for the changes and the logic behind them.

Delhi Police Academy in collaboration with National Law University Dwarka has carefully designed its training modules to cover all officers from Special Commissioners of Police to Constables of Delhi Police in a phased manner. Now experts from National Law University are insisting on organizing a session regarding this. At the same time, emphasis is also being laid on ensuring that officials at all levels are efficient in implementing the new laws.

accept challenge as opportunity

CP Sanjay Arora underlined the importance of training on the new laws and urged the participants, including inspectors and above, to accept the upcoming changes as both a challenge and an opportunity. CP described the change in laws i.e. transition from Indian Penal Code to Indian Judicial Code as a better and meaningful step. The CP said that initially its focus was on simultaneously punishing the accused and providing justice to the victim.

The first phase of training will start from February 5.

He said that the first phase of training of 5500 investigation officers and CCTNS operators is going to start on February 5. Its objective is to equip the force’s cutting-edge officers with the skills required to execute the new legal framework once it is notified. All the state-of-the-art offices are to be equipped to deal with the new processes and challenges associated with the upcoming changes in laws through a trained batch of officers.
