Delhi Latest News: For the last few days, the problem of water crisis in Delhi is increasing instead of decreasing. The reason behind this is said to be the increasing level of ammonia in Yamuna. Apart from this, due to maintenance of Ganga Canal, water supply from UP has stopped. Its direct impact was that Wazirabad and Sonia Vihar water treatment plants are not able to work at their full capacity, due to which water problems have arisen in many areas of Delhi.
Delhi Jal Board Vice Chairman Vinay Mishra said after visiting the water treatment plants on Sunday, “Every year the UP Flood and Irrigation Department closes the canal for 15 days for maintenance. This year too it is closed, due to which Because of this there is a water shortage.”
He said, ‘According to the Upper Yamuna Review Board, when water stops coming from Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Canal due to maintenance, then water is taken from Yamuna in water treatment plants. Due to increasing ammonia level in Yamuna, this water is also not potable.
Haryana government should reduce ammonia
Vinay Mishra, AAP MLA from Dwarka, said, “Delhi’s dependence on Yamuna increases when the supply from the Ganga Canal is stopped due to maintenance. We have requested the Haryana government to reduce the ammonia level in Yamuna, so that Sonia Vihar and Wazirabad STPs should work to their full capacity and Delhi can be supplied with ample water.”
Will solve the problem soon
He further said that the Chief Minister will meet Atishi regarding this problem. Will try to find a solution to this. During this water crisis, Delhi Jal Board appeals to people to save water. DJB is making every possible effort to solve this problem as soon as possible.
