The weather has become pleasant due to the intermittent rain in the capital. People have got relief from the humid heat. It rained heavily in many areas on Saturday morning. Light to moderate rain occurred in some areas. About 8.9 mm of rain was recorded in Delhi till 5:30 pm. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for rain till July 2. In such a situation, the temperature can reach 34 to 29 degrees Celsius. The department has predicted heavy rain on Sunday as well. During this time, light clouds will remain. Also, strong winds and dust storms will blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. Due to this, the maximum temperature can be recorded at 34 and the minimum temperature at 26 degrees Celsius.

On Saturday, people got relief from the humid heat. The sky was cloudy since morning. In the morning, there was a strong wind and storm. After this it rained. The weather changed after noon. In such a situation, the humid heat troubled people. There was heavy rain in some areas in the evening as well. Due to this, a decrease in temperature was seen. Coolness was felt in the air at night. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature was recorded at 35.6 degrees Celsius, two degrees Celsius less than normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 28 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, till 5.30 pm, 12.6 mm of rain was recorded in Lodi Road, 3.5 mm in Mayur Vihar, 0.4 mm in Palam, 0.5 mm in Pitampura and Najafgarh, 0.3 mm in Aya Nagar and in Ridge.

Temperatures reached 36 degrees in Palam

According to the Meteorological Department, Palam and Ridge areas were the hottest. The maximum temperature recorded here was 36 degrees Celsius. Lodhi Road recorded a maximum temperature of 35.1 degrees Celsius, and Aya Nagar recorded a maximum temperature of 34.8 degrees Celsius. The lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Ridge at 23.6 degrees Celsius.

moderate wind range

The air in the capital has reached the moderate category. On Saturday, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was 118, which is in the moderate category. In most areas, the AQI was recorded above 200. Delhi’s air remained in the moderate category overall.

According to the Meteorological Department, the air is expected to reach the poor category on Tuesday. According to the CPCB, Faridabad recorded the highest air quality index in NCR. The AQI here was 171, which is in the moderate category. Gurugram recorded 133, Greater Noida 110, Ghaziabad 123 and Noida 88 AQI.

Pragati Maidan tunnel remained closed due to rain water filling

Pragati Maidan tunnel remained closed for traffic on Saturday as well. During this time, traffic was affected near IP Park on Ring Road. Public Works Department (PWD) officials said that the tunnel was filled with five to seven feet of rainwater. The work of draining it out was started on Friday itself and this work continued throughout Saturday.

On Friday, more than 200 calls were received from waterlogged areas. During this time, after 12 hours of hard work, the water was drained out from Minto Bridge underpass and opened for traffic. Also, it took 4 to 5 hours to drain out water from areas like Moolchand underpass, Zakhira, Dhaula Kuan and Adhchini, while complaints of waterlogging in Seelampur, Krishna Nagar and Badli were resolved in 2 to 3 hours.
