Defense ministers of India and China will hold first high level talks after withdrawal of both countries from LAC

India China Relation: After the agreement on LAC with China, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Laos. Rajnath Singh will participate in the ASEAN Defense Ministers Plus Meeting (ADMM) meeting. Sources say that the Defense Ministers of India and China may meet during this period. This will be the first meeting between the ministers of the two countries after both sides agreed on patrolling arrangement in Eastern Ladakh.

Actually, Rajnath Singh is going to participate in the annual meeting between the Defense Ministers of ASEAN countries and the ministers of other eight countries. Recently, during the Kazan BRICS Summit, bilateral talks took place between Chinese President Xi Jinping and PM Modi.

‘Both countries welcomed the agreement’

After this meeting which took place after a long time, on behalf of India, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had said that both the countries have welcomed the steps taken towards the patrolling agreement regarding disengagement. In the meeting, both the leaders had talked about starting special representative level talks for a permanent solution to the border dispute.

Meeting between India and China may happen again

India’s NSA Ajit Doval and China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi were asked to schedule this meeting soon. Apart from this, both the leaders had also emphasized that the officials will take forward the strategic talks through bilateral dialogue mechanism, which also includes the Foreign Minister level mechanism.

Even though an initial agreement has been reached between India and China regarding withdrawal from the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh, the future of China-India relations is still surrounded by difficulties.
