China Birth Rate: A new concern has arisen in China, the world’s second most populous country. On one hand, China’s population is gradually aging, on the other hand, China’s fertility rate is also at its lowest level. Recent trends have shown that Chinese women are now avoiding having children. Chinese President Xi Jinping has also drawn the country’s attention to this problem.

Speaking at a meeting of the All China Women’s Federation, Jinping said, “Women’s rise should not only be measured by their workplace performance, but also by family harmony, social harmony and national development.” Jinping said that today’s youth should strengthen their thinking towards marriage and having children.

China struggling on many fronts

At present, China is struggling internally on many fronts, such as fear of childbearing among women, disillusionment with marriage among youth, gender discrimination, cost of rearing newborns. It is noteworthy that China’s population decreased last year for the first time in six decades. To increase this number, the government is continuously working on many schemes. Chinese President Xi Jinping had also held a meeting on this issue in May.

Despite all efforts, China’s fertility rate is falling. Many types of schemes have also been introduced to bring stability in this.

Does China see India as a threat?

China’s population is aging and its neighbor India has a large population of youth. The Chinese government fears that in the future, companies may turn to India in search of workers.
