China Freezes Property Of Nine US Firms: China has taken strict action against 9 American companies on Wednesday (18 September 2024). These companies export military equipment. China has alleged that these companies sell weapons to Taiwan. China claims its rights over Taiwan.

The Chinese government has frozen the assets of these companies in China. This action has been taken in an effort to increase pressure on the US to sell arms to Taiwan. China has repeatedly requested the US government to avoid formal contact with the Taiwanese leadership. Beijing says that Taiwan is its territorial property and therefore it should be kept free from arms sales.

List of banned companies

A statement issued by China’s Foreign Ministry said that the companies that have been banned under this action include Sierra Nevada Corporation, Stick Rudder Enterprises LLC, Cubic Corporation, S3 Aerospace, TCOM Limited Partnership, Textor, Planet Management Group, ACT1 Federal and Exovera. Transactions with these companies have also been banned in China.

China’s message and tension with America

“The US should immediately stop the dangerous trend of arming Taiwan and avoid undermining support for Taiwan independence and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a press briefing.

China has previously banned Lockheed Martin units for selling weapons to Taiwan and lodged a protest with the US over the matter. In recent years, China has increased military and political pressure on Taiwan to clarify its claim, which Taipei has strongly rejected.
