Two days ago, the Prime Minister’s Office of Pakistan issued a statement. The statement said that Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met Chinese Prime Minister Li-Qiang. They discussed the importance of Gwadar as an important pillar of the CPEC. They agreed to accelerate the timely completion of all related infrastructure projects to transform Gwadar in Balochistan into a regional economic hub. CPEC connects Gwadar port in Balochistan, Pakistan to China’s Xinjiang province. India is opposing it because it is being built through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Jaishankar once said about CPEC that I think it was made very clear not once but twice in the SCO meeting on the so-called China-Pakistan Economic Corridor that connectivity is good for progress, but connectivity cannot violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of a country.
