Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that we have to move towards chemical-free farming to avoid serious diseases. Emphasizing on co-cropping farming, the CM said that while this will increase the income of farmers, doing natural farming will reduce the cost of production. In a special conversation with Amar Ujala at his official residence, the Chief Minister gave his detailed views on increasing the income of farmers. CM said that some progressive farmers in the state are doing better work in this direction. A progressive farmer in Bijnor is getting three times the production from sugarcane cultivation through tissue culture.

Generally, the sugarcane yield in Eastern UP is 100-150 quintals per acre, in Western UP it is 300 quintals per acre. At the same time, this progressive farmer of Bijnor is getting the yield up to 900 quintals per acre. This farmer himself has to make vinegar from sugarcane juice and supply it in the market. This type of entrepreneurship is capable of bringing a big change in the living standards of farmers.

Do farmers doing natural or organic farming face difficulty in marketing their produce? They are not able to get fair price for their produce? On this, the CM said that there is no need to use chemical fertilizers and pesticides in zero budget and natural farming. This reduces the cost by Rs 10-15 thousand per acre.

Arrangements in every market for certification of chemical-free produce

How to obtain certificate for chemical free farming. On this, the CM said that it is necessary for the farmers to take certification of the produce taken in this way. Due to this, relatively better price is also available in the market. We are making arrangements in every mandi for certification. Farmers can avail this facility by getting certification at every level, from seed to market. Once we move in this direction, avenues for increase in income automatically open for the farmers.

Good prices are easily available in the market

CM also shared the benefits of produce obtained from natural farming. CM said that the quality of produce obtained from natural farming is good. It is also clean. Its smell is so good that even consumers are ready to pay good prices for it. CM said that to avoid serious diseases like cancer, kidney and liver, we will have to move towards chemical-free farming. This will improve the health of both humans and soil.

Efforts are being made from school level itself

What steps are being taken to increase awareness about natural farming? On this, CM Yogi said that the government is working very seriously in this direction. Libraries have been established in every school. Efforts are also being made to provide information to students on various subjects including natural farming through newspapers. Media, along with Kisan Vikas Kendra (KVK) and agricultural universities, can also contribute in bringing awareness in this direction.
