CBSE: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has advised schools to review their internal assessment processes. The board noticed a significant difference between theory and practical marks of students in about 500 affiliated schools. The board has issued a notice telling schools that a thorough assessment of practical exams is required.

In an advisory, the board said that through advanced AI tools, based on result data from previous years, it has detected a significant difference between theory and practical marks in some subjects among students of 50% or more across around 500 CBSE-affiliated schools.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today directed affiliated schools to properly evaluate practical exams due to significant differences between theory and practical marks in some subjects. The board has advised schools to review their internal assessment processes to ensure a more robust and transparent process.

In a notice issued today, CBSE said that they have “detected, through advanced AI tools, a significant difference between theory and practical marks in certain subjects among students of 50% or more across around 500 CBSE-affiliated schools, based on result data from previous years.”

In recent years, the rise in marks has emerged as a major issue. The number of students passing the Class 10 and 12 board exams and scoring above 90 per cent marks has increased even in state boards. This has led to tough competition for college admissions.
