Canada Study Permits: The Canadian government has imposed a temporary limit on the number of new study permits for two years from 2024. Only 3 lakh 64 thousand study permits will be approved for the year 2024. While imposing a limit on study permits, the Canadian government will manage its resources more effectively, as well as develop the infrastructure. The aim of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is to strike a balance between the number of Canadian institutions and foreign students, so that all students can get better facilities and education.

The Canadian government expects to receive 660,000 applications for study permits in 2024, but only 364,000 forms will be accepted. Special attention will be paid to how many study permits are expiring in 2024. As many new study permits will be issued as the number of study permits expiring in 2024. Along with imposing a limit on study permits, IRCC has changed the GIC requirement for foreign students in the eligibility and criteria for PG work permits.

These people will get open work permit
The Canadian government has reformed the postgraduate work permit in such a way that students of many private colleges will become ineligible. Under these changes, only the spouses of students already enrolled in PG, doctoral or any professional degree program will be eligible for open work permit. Along with this, the requirement of Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) has been doubled for foreign students filling the form for Canadian study permit from January 1, 2024.

There is a shortage of houses to live in Canada
IRCC says that foreign students are causing problems in living and health care in Canada, due to which the infrastructure is weakening. There are concerns about the quality of education in some institutions, especially private colleges. The purpose of these changes is to reduce the pressure of foreign students, so that the infrastructure can be strengthened. Along with ensuring that the education is of good quality.

Indian students will lose trust in Canada
The way the Canadian government has changed the rules, it will have a direct impact on Indians. In such a situation, the trust of Indian citizens on Canada for studies and employment will start weakening. Indians constitute the largest number of foreign students in Canada. The way changes have been made in the study permit, it may reduce the applications from Indian students. In such a situation, Indian students can apply for study permit in countries with fewer rules.
