BSF killed Bangladeshi smuggler in Kishanganj border area ANN

Kishanganj News: Due to continuous rains in Kishanganj, cross-border smugglers are regularly trying to break the national security fence on the India-Bangladesh border. Recently, 152 Battalion BSF has faced many challenges from smugglers on both sides trying to break the fence. The nefarious designs of smugglers are being foiled again and again due to the tireless efforts of the soldiers under Kishanganj sector. On the other hand, a Bangladeshi smuggler was killed in firing by BSF jawans while cutting the border fence on Thursday.

Smugglers attacked the soldiers

According to the information received, on Thursday, alert soldiers of BOP Teengaon, 152 Battalion BSF observed the movement of 06/07 Bangladeshi smugglers. Who were attempting to break the national security fence for smuggling activities. BSF jawans challenged the smugglers to stop their activities, but the smugglers ignored the warning and continued their activities. As per non-lethal deterrence strategies, BSF soldiers threw a stun grenade, but the smugglers persisted and attempted to attack the on-duty BSF jawans.

The smugglers attacked the BSF soldiers with sharp-edged weapons and also tried to snatch their weapons. After which the soldiers opened fire with service rifles in self-defense. In which a Bangladeshi smuggler was killed. After which, during the search of the surrounding area, BSF soldiers recovered two sharp-edged weapons, a fence cutter, a mobile phone and 40 Bangladeshi Taka.

The deceased smuggler has been identified as Mohammad Raju, resident of Gram School Hatguriyali PS-Baliadangi District Thakurgaon (Bangladesh). He is a history-sheeter and has been involved in cross-border smuggling and fence violation cases. At the same time, after verification by the police of Goalpokhar, the body was sent to Islampur Hospital for post-mortem.
