The BJP on Thursday rejected the claim of Nobel laureate Amartya Sen. Amartya had said that the Lok Sabha election results show that India is not a ‘Hindu nation’. The BJP stressed that Amartya’s claim has no connection with the real picture on the ground. It also said that the eminent economist should look at things from a neutral point of view.
Senior BJP leader and former West Bengal BJP president Rahul Sinha said, Amartya Sen will never appreciate the good work of the NDA government. He should have assessed the condition of the country before the party came to power and the current situation after so many years. Sinha said, Sen is making such comments to please Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee. The people of India have voted for the BJP for its efforts to clean the system and make it corruption-free. Taking the economy to new heights is not BJP’s headache.
Let us tell you that Amartya Sen arrived in Kolkata from America on Wednesday evening. He told reporters at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, India is not a ‘Hindu nation’, this has been reflected in the recent Lok Sabha election results. 90-year-old Sen said, I do not think the idea of turning India into a ‘Hindu nation’ is right.
