Chhattisgarh News: Despite Chhattisgarh being the top state in the country in electricity production, it is paying Rs 8 lakh every month to the Telangana government to light up some villages in its own area. In fact, the then state government had decided to light up some villages in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district by taking electricity from Telangana.

Although electricity has reached these villages, even after so many years, Chhattisgarh’s CSEB department has not built an electricity substation here, due to which Chhattisgarh government has to pay 7 to 8 lakh rupees every month to Telangana state’s electricity department. According to information, more than half a dozen villages in Pamed area are being lit up with Telangana’s electricity and about 35 to 40 thousand units of electricity are being consumed in these villages every month, for which the government is facing a burden of about 7 to 8 lakh rupees every month.

Electricity is being supplied to Pamed from Telangana’s substation
In fact, about 500 houses in the Pamed area of Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, bordering Chhattisgarh and Telangana state, are being illuminated by electricity from Telangana, whereas till now only efforts are being made to bring electricity here from Chhattisgarh for a long time and till now even the line has not been laid, due to which every month the Chhattisgarh government has to pay 7 to 8 lakh rupees to Telangana state for payment of electricity charges. According to the information, electricity reached for the first time on 23 July 2020 in Pamed village, bordering Telangana, about 210 km from Bijapur district headquarters.

No concrete effort could be made
Electricity is being supplied to Pamed from the Cherla Tipapuram substation of Telangana state. The special thing is that since independence, the interior villages of Bijapur district were in darkness. But the then state government, seeing the problem being faced in supplying electricity to these villages from Chhattisgarh, decided to buy electricity from Telangana state to provide them light and electricity is easily reaching those interior villages from Telangana. Although it is being claimed that Chhattisgarh is making continuous efforts to provide electricity to these villages, but till now no concrete effort has been made for this.

A 33 KV substation has been proposed in Pamed for a long time
Here, Chhattisgarh Electricity Distribution Company has appointed linemen and helpers in the Pamed area after electricity reached there from Telangana, and the employees always stay in the same village, in case of any fault, it is repaired immediately, due to being a Naxal-affected area, there is difficulty in reaching the Pamed area by electricity employees from Bijapur Headquarters.

Here in this matter, Executive Director of CSEB department S.K. Thakur says that electricity is being taken from Telangana for some villages of Bijapur district, but very soon a line will be laid for Pamed via Tarrem- Chinnagelur, 33 KV substation is also proposed in Pamed, and the work is approved, efforts are being made to complete all the work soon.
