Patna people upset for water: Bihar is in the grip of severe heat for the last 15 days. This year’s heat has broken the record of the last 45 years and temperatures above 48 degrees have been recorded. Yesterday, while the temperature in Buxar was 46 degrees, the temperature above 43 degrees was also recorded in the capital Patna. People are troubled by the heat and even in this scorching heat, people in the rural areas of the capital Patna are yearning for every drop of water.
The condition of ‘Tap Water Scheme’ is pathetic
Leave aside the other districts of Bihar, you will also be stunned to see the condition of the rural areas of the capital Patna, how people are yearning for water in the midst of the scorching heat. The biggest thing is that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar gave many instructions to the Electricity Department and Disaster Management Department in view of the scorching heat. The Chief Minister has claimed that all people are getting water under the ‘Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal’ scheme. This scheme of the government is visible on paper, but the situation on the ground is something else.
To know the truth about how much benefit people are getting from the Bihar government’s every house tap water scheme, ABP News visited the rural areas of Fatuha in the capital Patna, from where it was learnt that there are not one but many villages where the government’s scheme has been spent, big tanks, submersible motors, electricity, everything is installed in the village. Pipes have also been laid up to people’s homes, but water is not being supplied.
Know the condition of Parsa village of Patna
First of all, let us tell you about the condition of Parsa village, there are about 40 to 45 houses of Dalit colony here. A government hand pump was installed here many years ago, even in the scorching heat, this hand pump is the only support for all 40 houses. Be it drinking water, any household work or bathing. A hand pump is the only support for everyone. From early morning itself a long queue is formed at this tap and the villagers keep queuing up to take water. Even in the hot afternoon, people keep queuing up at the tap to take water.
Villagers said that a tank has been installed under the Nal Ka Jal Yojana, but not in this part of the village but in another part about 500 meters away from here. Water does not come even after the pipes have been installed. People living where the tank is installed also do not get water. The Jal Yojana has been given to be run under the PHED department but the department does not monitor whether the water supply is running or not.
Pachrukhiya village of Patna is in dire need of water
Now listen to the condition of Pachrukhiya village, there are two wards in this village. Under the government scheme, big tanks and big water motors have been installed in both the wards. Here also pipes have been laid in all the houses, but according to the villagers, water tanks were installed 2.5 to 3 years ago and since then water is not available. People here have never been able to drink water under this scheme. Now the situation has become such that the taps installed in many houses have also broken. The only support of the people here is a hand pump which was installed by the former head of the village about 22 years ago during his tenure as the head. This hand pump is installed at his door and people of the entire village come there to get water.
People told that this hand pump is busy from 4:00 am to 10:00 pm to 11:00 pm. There is a lot of crowd in the morning and evening to take water. Because the main reason is that there is no other arrangement here except this hand pump. Some people have got boring done in their house according to their capacity or have installed their own hand pump, but those who do not have any arrangement are dependent on this hand pump. Officials have also been informed many times. BDO sahab is also aware of it. PHED department has also been informed, but no official has come to see it.
We are telling you the condition of only two villages. We have been told that there are many such villages where the situation is the same. The money for the government scheme has been spent. The tank has been installed. The motor has also been installed, but till date people have not been able to get water. Now the government has also ended the hand pump scheme. The hand pumps that were already installed are the only support for the villagers today.
