Bihar Flood News: Due to floods in Bihar, a picture of devastation has emerged from many districts. The flood situation remained worrying even on Sunday. The embankments of the rivers have broken at many places and flood water has entered the Valmiki Tiger Reserve. Its impact has been maximum on the districts bordering India-Nepal border.
While a crack was reported in the embankment of the Bagmati river in Madhakaul village of Sitamarhi district on Sunday (29 September), due to excessive water pressure on the Gandak river in West Champaran, the embankment located on the left bank of the river in Bagaha-1 block collapsed at 4.50 pm. Was damaged at. Due to this, flood water also entered Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) in West Champaran district. This has posed a threat to the wildlife there.
Bagaha’s executive engineer suspended
State Water Resources Department (WRD) informed on Sunday that due to unexpected rise in the water level of Bagmati river and increasing water pressure, there are floods in Belsand, Parsauni, Bargainiya and Rasalpur blocks of Sitamarhi district and Piprahi, Purnahiya and Shivhar blocks of Shivhar district. After the leakage was reported at many places on the left and right embankment of Bagmati river, immediate repairs were made. Bagaha’s Executive Engineer (Flood Control Division) Nishikant Kumar was suspended on charges of damage to the embankment, negligence in work and lack of proper coordination with the district administration.
The State Water Resources Department has said that the maximum water level of this year was also recorded in other rivers of Bihar. The water level at Jhanjharpur measuring point of Kamla Balan river has been recorded at 52.10 meters, which is 2.10 meters more than the danger mark. The water level at Gowabari measuring point of Lalbekiya river has been recorded at 72.70 meters, which is 1.55 meters more than the danger mark.
According to the statement of the department issued on Sunday, “66.81 meter and 37.22 meter water level has been recorded at Taiyabpur and Dhegraghat measuring points of Mahananda river respectively, which is 0.81 meter and 1.57 meter higher than the danger mark respectively. Kamla Balan, Lalbekiya And the embankments and structures of Mahananda River are safe.”
No news of any death yet
It was told that the water level in small rivers has decreased on Sunday but the flood situation remains serious in many districts and more than 16 lakh people have been affected. There is no news of any death yet. A total of 6.61 lakh cusecs of water was released till 5 am from Veerpur Barrage on Kosi River, which is the highest in 56 years.
