Buxar Train Accident Update: Big information has come to light regarding the train accident that took place on Wednesday night, October 11, in Buxar district of Bihar. The probable reason for the derailment of all the coaches of Delhi-Kamakhya ‘North East Express’ in Bihar was a defect in the tracks. Sources gave this information on Thursday quoting the preliminary investigation report. Four people were killed and many others were injured in this accident that took place on Wednesday night near Raghunathpur railway station in Buxar district. The report, signed by six railway officials, said it appeared that the train derailed due to a fault in the track.
However, other railway officials underlined that an attempt was made to stop the train suddenly by applying brakes when it was moving at high speed. Train guard Vijay Kumar, who was the victim of the accident, said that he felt that the brakes were applied suddenly, after which he felt shocks. Kumar, who was slightly injured, said, “I was doing my paperwork when I realized that the driver had suddenly applied the brakes. After this I felt some shocks and I became unconscious. Later I found myself in a nearby field and the villagers were splashing water on my face.
Railways suffered a loss of Rs 52 crore
Regarding the train coaches, the report said that all 22 coaches and the engine derailed, out of which two coaches were completely overturned. According to the report, there has been a loss of more than Rs 52 crore due to this accident. Loco pilot (driver) Vipin Kumar Sinha was partially injured in the accident and his assistant suffered serious injuries.
The report also includes a statement from loco pilot Sinha, which states that the train passed through Raghunathpur station at a speed of 128 km per hour, but immediately after crossing the station, it received a severe blow from behind. Initial reports quoted the loco pilot as saying that as a result of excessive vibration and severe shock, the brake pipe pressure suddenly reduced and the train derailed at 9:52 pm.
Sparks were coming out from the wheels of the train
According to the statement of Vipin Kumar Sinha, he took command of the train from Deen Dayal Upadhyay station at 8:27 pm and everything was fine at that time. He told that when the train reached Buxar at 9:29 pm, the assistant loco pilot checked the engine again and found everything fine. The report quoted a gateman and a pointman of Raghunathpur station as saying that they saw sparks coming from near the wheels of the train.
“As per the statement of gateman of LC (level crossing) gate number 59B, train number 12506 passed through the gate and after passing 8-10 coaches, he saw spark and heard heavy noise,” the report said. In the report, the “breathalyzer” test of the loco pilot and his assistant was said to be negative.
Minor injured passengers given leave
CPRO said that many people with minor injuries were discharged after treatment. CPRO said that these passengers were boarded in a special train, which left for the destination station. “Based on the advice of doctors, we are also providing ambulance facilities to passengers from remote areas of Bihar and West Bengal to drop them home,” the CPRO said.
30 passengers were injured in the accident
Apart from four dead, 30 passengers have been injured in this train accident, including six women and two children. Meanwhile, Railway officials said that ex-gratia amount has been given to the families of all the victims except the family of Narendra, a resident of Rajasthan. Bihar Disaster Management Department officials said that the family of deceased Narendra has been informed and they are expected to reach Buxar on Thursday night.
