Liquor seized in Motihari: On Sunday (16 June) in Motihari, the liquor mafia carrying a consignment of liquor tried to trample the excise department team with a container, but the excise department team narrowly escaped. In fact, the excise department team blocked the road under the flyover bridge near Navodaya Vidyalaya in Piprakothi police station area and caught a container. 146 cartons of foreign liquor were seized from the basement under the driver’s seat. The seized liquor includes many foreign brand liquor products.
Foreign liquor was loaded in the container
According to the information, on the secret information of liquor smuggling in the container, the team of the excise department signaled to stop the container, but the driver started driving the container at a high speed, during this the team of the excise department chased the container and while overtaking, the driver of the container tried to crush the excise team. However, everyone narrowly escaped.
After this, the officers of the excise department, using their smartness, went ahead and passed under the Piprakothi flyover bridge and reached in front of Navodaya Vidyalaya and the excise team stopped three trucks and blocked the national highway, where the container driver, seeing himself surrounded, stopped his vehicle and fled.
The driver fled leaving the container
The excise team has started investigation by lodging an FIR in the case. The excise team included Inspector Deepak Kumar Singh, SI Sanjay Gupta and armed forces. Motihari Sadar Inspector Deepak Kumar Singh of the excise department said that on information, an attempt was made to stop the consignment of liquor loaded in the container for checking, by then the container driver started driving the container at a high speed and when the driver was overtaken while chasing, he made an unsuccessful attempt to hit the vehicle of the excise department.
After this, three trucks were stopped near Piprakothi overbridge on the National Highway and the road was blocked. By then, the driver, sensing the situation, left the container on the road and ran away. An FIR has been lodged in the Piprakothi police station in this case. The search for the driver is on.
