Gujarat CM Launched Shramik Basera Scheme: The Gujarat government has started a great scheme keeping in mind the problems of labourers. The state government will provide temporary houses for labourers engaged in construction work. For this, they will have to pay a nominal amount. This scheme has been named ‘Shramik Basera’.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday (July 18) launched a scheme to provide temporary housing at a nominal rate of Rs 5 per day for about 15,000 workers engaged in construction work. This scheme will be further expanded in the next three years so that more and more such workers can get the benefit of this temporary housing.

For the ‘Shramik Basera’ scheme, the chief minister performed the bhoomi-pujan ceremony of 17 housing structures for labourers to stay in the cities of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara and Rajkot, an official release said, according to a PTI report. CM Bhupendra Patel was present at one such site in Ahmedabad’s Jagatpur area to lay its foundation stone.

He launched other such facilities virtually, the release said. The CM also launched a portal for the Shramik Basera Yojana, the release said. In his address at the event, the CM said, “Around 15,000 construction workers will benefit from this scheme once the facilities are ready. These labourers engaged in construction work will be provided accommodation at a daily rent of Rs 5 per person.”

He further said, “In the next three years, more such housing centers will be built across Gujarat for the benefit of about 3 lakh construction workers. The project will cost Rs 1,500 crore.” Giving information, he said that the aim of this step is to bring qualitative change in the standard of living of unorganized sector workers and construction workers by providing them food, health, housing and financial assistance.
