Jalandhar West Assembly Bypoll: The decision of Shiromani Akali Dal regarding the by-election to be held for Jalandhar assembly seat in Punjab has heated up the politics. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday (27 June) took a dig at Sukhbir Singh Badal and said that the SAD chief will campaign against the candidate who has been allotted his party’s election symbol for the Jalandhar West assembly by-election on July 10.

CM Bhagwant Mann His remarks came after the Shiromani Akali Dal said it would support the BSP candidate in the bypoll instead of the officially fielded candidate as the candidate, Surjit Kaur, was selected by a panel, two members of which have now rebelled against party chief Badal.

The condition of Akali Dal is pathetic- CM Mann

The Punjab Chief Minister alleged, “Akali Dal is in great trouble these days as Akali leaders are fighting among themselves for power. The party neither has any ideology nor do its leaders have any stand. These leaders are shamelessly working only for their vested political interests without caring about the state or its people. The pathetic condition of the Akali Dal can be gauged from the fact that Badal will not campaign for the Akali Dal symbol candidate for the Jalandhar West Assembly by-election.”

The people of the state will not spare SAD leaders- CM

He further said, “The people of the state will not spare these leaders for their sinful acts and will teach them a befitting lesson in the by-elections”. Let us tell you that a section of senior party leaders of Akali Dal has revolted against Badal and has demanded that the recent elections in Punjab should be held on March 16.
