New Delhi. Team India, led by captain Rohit Sharma, reached Delhi airport from Barbados this morning with the T20 World Cup trophy. Thousands of fans were standing outside Delhi airport despite the rain to welcome the world champions. Today PM Narendra Modi will meet the World Cup winning team. After this, Team India will leave for Mumbai. Team India won the World Cup on 29 June by defeating South Africa by 7 runs in Barbados. When the T20 World Cup winning Indian cricket team reached Delhi from Barbados on Thursday morning, thousands of fans welcomed the victorious players carrying placards congratulating their favorite players and waving the national flag.

Piyush Arora, a fan standing outside the Indira Gandhi International Airport to welcome Team India, expressed his happiness and said, “…we came to T3 because we are very excited. We came to the airport at 3 am.” Viren, a teenage fan of the Indian cricket team, said, “I am a big fan of Jasprit Bumrah and I am waiting for him. I have been standing here since 5:30 am. I am a big fan of the Indian cricket team…”

Another supporter of the Indian cricket team, Shubham, said, “I made these two sketches of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. I came to the airport at 4:30 am to get a glimpse of Team India with the trophy. We are all very happy…” Meanwhile, BCCI wrote on the Instagram that “This is Team India’s home ground.” The team is expected to leave for Mumbai on Thursday evening. The team will later participate in an open bus roadshow, followed by a felicitation ceremony at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.

Earlier, World Cup-winning captain Rohit Sharma gave a special message to the Indian fans. In which he invited the passionate supporters to the victory parade at Mumbai’s Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium on Thursday to celebrate Team India’s ICC T20 World Cup victory. Team India won their second ICC T20 World Cup by defeating South Africa by seven runs in the final. Like other teams after winning the title, the Rohit-led side will ride an open-roof bus at Mumbai’s Marine Drive and the iconic Wankhede Stadium from 5 pm to celebrate.
