New Delhi. Bangladesh has become the first team to be eliminated from the ICC ODI World Cup. On Tuesday 31 October, the team captained by Shakib Al Hasan had to face its sixth consecutive defeat. Batting first in the match against Pakistan, the team was reduced to 204 runs in just 45.1 overs. Pakistan kept their semi-final hopes alive by achieving the target of 3 wickets in 32.3 overs.

After the end of the match, Bangladesh captain expressed happiness over his performance while expressed disappointment for the team. He said, “We did not have enough runs to win. This wicket was really good, we lost wickets quickly again. There were some partnerships but could not make big partnerships. I am disappointed with the way the batting took place, the way it bowled and the way it batted in the first 10 overs. Credit goes to Pakistan for this. If we are not getting runs from the top order batsmen, then we will have to think about the batting order.”

Bangladesh team has suffered 6 consecutive defeats in this World Cup. The team started the tournament with a strong win against Afghanistan but after that could not win even a single match. After losing 6 out of 7 matches, now Bangladesh’s semi-final hopes are completely over.

Shakib further said, “Earlier I was batting in the top 4 but runs were not being scored. My confidence was also very low. I am lucky that I was able to score some runs, I am feeling quite good now. It will be very difficult to make much changes at this time. We will move forward in this manner. We have to demonstrate together. We need a united protest, which is not happening at this time. There are two more matches left, I hope we will make a good comeback.”
