Perth. The tour of Australia is very important for the Indian cricket team. After losing the Test series 0-3 to New Zealand, Team India needs a series win to make it to the World Test Championship final. Australia is also in the race for the final and will not allow India to win easily. The Indian team is going to get a warm welcome in Australia. The pitch at the Optus Stadium, which will host the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between the two teams, will provide ‘good bounce and pace’ like the Perth pitch traditionally does.

The Indian team will enter the Perth Test starting from November 22 without playing any practice match. The visiting team has canceled the match to be held between 15th and 17th November by forming two teams of its own. India will now prepare at the nearby WACA Stadium where the Australian team will also hone their skills. “This is Australia, this is Perth… I’ve prepared for pretty good pace and pretty good bounce,” Western Australia cricket’s chief curator Isaac McDonald told ESPNcricinfo.

McDonald is trying to prepare the same kind of pitch that he had prepared for the first Test against Pakistan in December last year. In that match, Pakistan team was reduced to only 89 runs in the second innings and Australia had registered a big victory of 360 runs. As the match progressed, the pitch in that match started breaking and batsmen like Marnus Labuschagne were hit by the ball. Australia’s three fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc took 12 out of 20 wickets of Pakistan.

Recently, in the third ODI, Pakistan’s fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf had bundled out Australia for 140 runs. McDonald said that he is thinking of leaving some grass on the pitch. He said, “This (10 ml) will be good.” Considering last year’s circumstances, 10 mm was quite comfortable. The pitch was quite good for the first few days. Grass on the pitch means speed. Last year both the bowling attacks (Australia and Pakistan) were very fast and this year also the same is expected (for the match against India).
