An encounter has started again in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. According to Jammu and Kashmir Police, security forces and terrorists are now face to face in the Kastigarh area.

The encounter started at around 2 am in Jaddan Bata village in Kastigarh area when militants opened fire on security search parties, officials said. They said the exchange of fire between the two sides was continuing when last reports were received.
A massive search operation was launched in Desa and surrounding forest areas after four army personnel, including a Captain, were killed in firing by militants on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
Doda district has been witness to several brutal terrorist incidents like mass murder and cutting off of ears and noses of people of a particular community by taking them hostage about 15 years ago. More than five terrorist incidents have taken place in this district in the last two months.
There are constant reports of suspicious sightings. The Jammu region, which remained relatively peaceful between 2005 and 2021 after the elimination of decades-old terrorism, has been witnessing a spurt in terror attacks in the past one month.
