Ajay Rai Gangster Case: Allahabad High Court has reserved its verdict after hearing the gangster case registered against Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai. Gangster was also booked after an FIR was registered against Congress leader Ajay Rai in 2007. Ajay Rai challenged the criminal proceedings going on in the lower court in this case in the High Court. An argument was given in the court on behalf of Additional Advocate General PK Giri, the hearing could be held under IPC sections under the Gangster Act. There has been a demand to dismiss the petitioner’s petition regarding this matter.

On behalf of Congress leader Ajay Rai, it was argued that action under gangster and IPC sections cannot be carried out simultaneously. At present, the court has reserved its judgment after hearing both the sides. This case has been heard in the single bench of Justice Rajbir Singh. Now the court can give its verdict in this case on any date. The court’s decision will make it clear whether UP Congress President Ajay Rai will be punished or acquitted in this case.

Recently, students of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad had lodged an FIR against UP Congress President Ajay Rai at Lanka police station in Varanasi. In the complaint given to the police, ABVP students had said that Congress leader Ajay Rai had commented on ABVP in the case of molestation of BHU-IIT student. After the complaint of ABVP students, police registered a case against Congress leader Ajay Rai under 505 (2).
