Expansion

From today, all the four gates of Shri Jagannath Temple will be opened again. Along with this, the proposal to establish a Corpus Fund for all the current needs of the temple has also been approved. The new BJP government of Odisha has approved this proposal in its first cabinet.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi gave this information on Wednesday after chairing a meeting with his ministers at the state secretariat Lok Seva Bhawan.

‘Opening the doors of the temple was in the election manifesto of BJP’

Majhi said, ‘The state government has decided to open all the four gates of Jagannath Puri in the presence of all the ministers. This will allow devotees to reach the temple from all the four gates.’

Majhi further said that opening the gates of all temples was one of the promises in the BJP’s election manifesto. Due to the gates being closed, devotees are facing problems.

The doors of the temple were closed since the Corona period

The previous Biju Janata Dal government had closed all the four gates of the temple since the Corona epidemic and devotees can enter from only one gate. For a long time, there was a demand from the devotees that all the gates should be opened.

500 crores will be allocated for the maintenance of the temple

Giving information, Majhi said that the cabinet has decided to set up a fund of Rs 500 crore for the protection and maintenance of the temple. The Chief Minister said that all the ministers stayed in the pilgrimage town of Puri on Wednesday night and all will be present there in the temple at the time of opening of all the four gates.

‘MSP of paddy will increase to Rs 3100 per quintal’

Majhi said that the state government will also take steps to increase the minimum support price (MSP) of paddy to Rs 3100 per quintal and the concerned department has been asked to find a solution for this. Apart from this, a special policy “Samridh Krishak Niti Yojana” will be made to deal with the problems of farmers including MSP.
