According to the report of Daily Star News website, Joshua Gault, a resident of Oklahoma (USA), had gone on a trip to Alaska’s island with his wife, 6 children and 78-year-old mother. He had booked a ticket for a cruise ship named Norwegian Encore. The ticket for 9 people was worth about Rs 24 lakh. But on July 12, the ship left them in an unknown city.

They had gotten off the ship to visit a small town called Katchikan, where they were watching a lumberjack show. But when it was time to return to the ship, their tour operator just counted the heads of the people and did not check the tickets, so they were not allowed to board the shuttle from the town to the port, citing lack of space. They were told that the shuttle would return and they would board it again. But the bus never returned.
The family faced a lot of problems
Somehow they reached the port and found that their ship had left the port. Their medicines were also on the ship which were missing. After this, they asked for help for rescue. Then the US Customs and Border Protection Passenger Vessel Service Act imposed a fine on them for abandoning the ship which was more than Rs 7 lakh. Actually, during their journey, they had to catch a ship from a port in Canada, which is a foreign country. This was because their passports were also in the same ship that had abandoned them. Since they could not go to Canada, they had to pay its fees. Not only this, from there they had to arrange for their stay and food and also had to make arrangements to go home. Now the company has assured that this happened because of a local tour operator, so they will get their refund and the loss incurred will be compensated. Going forward, this family of 9 people will also get a discount of 20 percent.
