Solapur: A rare and amazing Sahasra Dal lotus flower has bloomed in Sakubai Hirachand Nemchand Kanya Prashala located near Ganpati Ghat in Solapur. The specialty of this unique flower is that it has 1008 petals, which makes it different from the normal lotus. This is the first time that such a rare lotus has bloomed in Solapur, which has created a lot of excitement and surprise among garden lovers.
Lotus lover Revati Kulkarni, who has grown this flower, told ‘Local 18’ that this plant has a total of three buds, two of which have already bloomed. She planted this plant with the aim of introducing students to this thousands of years old lotus species.
Features of Sahasra Dal Kamal
According to Revati Kulkarni, Sahasra Dal Kamal has 1008 petals and it remains in bloom for 15 days. Another specialty of this flower is that its outer petals keep falling gradually, while the inner petals keep blooming, due to which its beauty remains for a long time. Apart from this, this flower also has a captivating fragrance, which makes it even more attractive.
This is an Indian species of lotus and its blooming has generated keen interest among local garden lovers.
