New Delhi. Veteran Ravichandran Ashwin scored a brilliant century in the first innings of the first Test match against Bangladesh. Ashwin says that earlier he used to get stressed under pressure but now it is not so. He says that he has freed himself from external and internal pressure. Now he wants to play cricket with a smile on his face. Ashwin rescued India from crisis by scoring a strong century on the first day of the opening Test against Bangladesh. During this, he made a partnership of 199 runs for the seventh wicket with Ravindra Jadeja and brought the team back in the match.

38-year-old R Ashwin has proved with his mature batting that he is fully capable of handling pressure situations. And now he has stopped reacting to anything during the match. Ashwin said after the second day of the match, ‘I enjoy pressure. There is no doubt about it. It gives you a chance to try your best and react. However, in the past, I used to become critical of myself and others in such situations. I used to put a lot of pressure on myself.’

‘I have always handled pressure boldly’
Ashwin said, ‘I have always faced pressure boldly. I have given a befitting reply to it in my performance or press conference. Now however I have changed a lot. I want to play cricket with a smile on my face. I had promised myself four-five years ago that I will not react to anyone and I am following it properly now.’ This Chennai player also said that he has paid a lot of attention to his batting in the last three years so that he can contribute more to the team. He said, ‘I have worked a lot on this (batting). I have improved a lot on my shots, the way I face fast bowlers. I am happy that it is giving results. I am getting a lot of satisfaction from this.’
