According to the Meteorological Department, a deep depression has formed over Gangetic West Bengal. It is likely to move northwestwards. Due to its effect, heavy rainfall was recorded in Jharkhand on Monday.

Rain havoc continues from Himachal Pradesh to West Bengal and from Northeast to Odisha and Rajasthan. Heavy rains occurred on Monday amidst yellow alert in six districts of Himachal Pradesh. Flood-like conditions arose in many districts of West Bengal and low-lying areas were submerged. Heavy rains occurred in many districts of the state amidst red alert in Jharkhand too. Due to rain and landslides in Himachal and Uttarakhand, traffic has come to a halt on 74 roads including national highways and hundreds of vehicles are stranded on the Badrinath Highway. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains and strong winds accompanied by thunder in at least 13 states and union territories including Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh for the next two days.
