Arrah News: On Monday evening, a fire suddenly broke out in a room of the old OPD of Ara Sadar Hospital in Ara, Bihar. The news of fire in the hospital suddenly created panic. The security guards present in the hospital immediately informed the senior officer of the hospital and also informed the fire brigade about the incident. After the information of the incident, many officials including Bhojpur’s Civil Surgeon Dr. Shailendra Kumar Sinha, Deputy Superintendent of Ara Sadar Hospital Dr. Arun Kumar, DPM Dr. Ravi Ranjan reached Sadar Hospital.

The fire was brought under control after an hour’s effort

Before the fire brigade could reach the Sadar Hospital premises, the patients present in the hospital and the people present on the road nearby tried their best to extinguish the fire, but the fire could not be controlled. As soon as three fire brigade vehicles reached the Sadar Hospital campus, they started extinguishing the fire. After about an hour of tireless efforts, the fire could be controlled. Thankfully, due to the efforts of the hospital guards, local people and firefighters, there was not much damage before the fire spread, otherwise there could have been a huge loss of life and property.

A dialysis centre is run above the old OPD, which had a large number of patients. After the news of the fire, the entire dialysis ward was also evacuated. To deal with fire incidents, gas cylinders have been kept in the hospital for firefighting, but at the time of the incident, not a single fire fighting equipment worked. The fire fighting equipment in the hospital has become a mere showpiece. If the fire fighting equipment had worked, the fire could have been controlled as soon as it broke out.

What did Civil Surgeon Shailendra Sinha say?

Civil surgeon Dr Shailendra Kumar Sinha said that we had a dressing room in the old building, that too caught fire. Full details will be available later. There is a possibility of fire due to short circuit. The guard present in the hospital has responded well. He has called everyone from the hospital officials to the fire brigade. Before we reached, three fire brigade vehicles had reached here and the fire has been completely controlled. The civil surgeon further said that there has not been much damage. That room was not being used now anyway. The possibility of damage is zero. There is no fire alarm in the old building, it is an old building. Some connection must have been disconnected from somewhere. The wind is also blowing very fast. It is difficult to say what happened and where.

Abhay Vishwas Bhatt, who reached the hospital after getting information about the fire, said that as soon as we got information about the fire, we informed the fire brigade. We rushed from where we were sitting to the place of the fire. No administrative officer had come here till that time. Later everyone arrived. The Deputy Superintendent of the hospital had come only to get the photo clicked. He should have come earlier. The manager was not there yet. The DPM was present. The DPM worked very hard. Local people, social workers and staff helped in extinguishing the fire. After that the fire brigade vehicle came and the fire was brought under control.
