Former US President Donald Trump has been attacked again amid the US Presidential Election. On Sunday (September 15, 2024), the attacker fired bullets from an AK-47 rifle. However, not a single bullet hit Trump and he is safe. This is the second incident in two months when Donald Trump has been targeted. The first time he was shot, he was holding an election rally in Butler, Pennsylvania and this time at the time of the attack, he was playing golf with his team in the golf course area of Florida.
Donald Trump went to Florida over the weekend. Here he was at his Avasa Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach. The accused was hiding in the bushes and firing bullets, as soon as the Secret Service agent started firing in retaliation, the attacker left his luggage and ran away. However, he was later caught. When Donald Trump came to know about the attack, he first called his doctor.
Donald Trump started joking about the attack
According to CNN’s report, as soon as the firing started, Donald Trump was immediately taken to the holding room of the golf court. When Trump came to know that there was an attempt to attack him, he was first shocked and then surprised. The very next minute, he started joking about the whole incident. He also called his doctor, advisors and colleagues. Donald Trump called Ronnie L. Jackson, who was his doctor in the White House, and started joking with him about the incident. He said, ‘I am happy that I did not have to take your services today.’ The last time Donald Trump was shot, it was Dr. Jackson who treated him. Trump called his colleagues and expressed regret that he was very disappointed that he could not finish his golf game. Trump also said that he had also got extra points in the game, which he could not take advantage of and he could not make a stroke.
Who is going to attack Trump?
Palm Beach County Sheriff Rick Bradshaw said that upon hearing the firing, a secret agent saw a scoped rifle barrel protruding from the fence of the golf club. He said the attacker attacked from a distance of 250-300 meters. The suspected attacker has been identified as 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, who lives in Hawaii. He has also been arrested on several charges including drugs and driving without licenses. He is originally from Carolina and his social media posts show that he is a supporter of Ukraine. In many posts, he has talked about fighting for Ukraine.
What did President Joe Biden say about the attack on Trump?
President Joe Biden has also reacted to the attack on Donald Trump. He says that he is relieved to know that Donald Trump is safe. He said that the incident is being investigated and there is no place for political violence or any kind of violence in our country. Joe Biden said, ‘I have asked my team to ensure that the Secret Service has every resource and capability to protect Donald Trump.’
Last time the bullet passed through my ear
The last time Donald Trump was attacked, the bullet grazed his ear. On July 13, he was holding a rally in Pennsylvania when 8 rounds of bullets were fired at him from an AR-15 rifle. 3 bullets were fired in the first round and 5 in the second round. The firing was done from a distance of 400 meters. In that incident, the attacker was identified as Thomas Crooks, who was shot by a Secret Service sniper.
