The deadlock between the protesters and the state government continues in the case of rape and murder of a female trainee at RG Kar Medical College-Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met the junior doctors protesting at the Health Bhavan today. After meeting Mamata Banerjee, the doctors sent a mail to the Bengal government, in which they expressed their desire to meet Mamata Banerjee to resolve the deadlock. Mamata Banerjee called the doctors to meet her at her residence at six in the evening today. Let us tell you that on Thursday a team of doctors had reached Nabanna for the meeting, but this meeting could not take place. Mamata Banerjee told that she waited for two hours to meet the junior doctors, but they did not come to the meeting place. However, on Saturday the Chief Minister herself came to meet the protesting doctors.

After meeting Mamata Banerjee, the doctors said that they are ready to hold discussions with the officials. She said, “We are ready for any discussion with the government with our five demands. This is not an unreasonable demand. The CM assured the agitators that she will look into their demands and if anyone is found guilty, action will be taken against him. She said, I have come here to meet you not as the Chief Minister but as Didi. I myself have come forward by leading the student movement, I have also struggled a lot in my life, I understand your struggle. I am not worried about my position. It rained all night yesterday, you were sitting here protesting, I was worried all night.”

What is the whole matter?

The incident of brutality with a junior doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College-Hospital took place on August 9. The deceased was a postgraduate second year student and trainee doctor of the Department of Chest Medicine in the medical college. After completing her duty on August 8, she had dinner with her friends at 12 in the night. There was no trace of the female doctor after this. On the second day of the incident, there was a stir in the medical college in the morning when the body of the doctor was found in a semi-nude state from the seminar hall on the fourth floor. The mobile phone and laptop of the deceased were recovered from the spot. The initial postmortem report has revealed that the female doctor was raped. The body of the junior female doctor was lying on the mattress and blood stains were found on the mattress. The initial postmortem report has stated that the deceased female doctor had wounds on her mouth and both eyes. Blood marks were found on the genitals and nail marks on the face. There were injury marks on the lips, neck, stomach, left ankle and finger of the right hand.
