Kejriwal gets bail, “Chief Minister” still in jail

Although Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal has got bail in the alleged excise scam, “Chief Minister” Kejriwal will still remain in jail. Due to the restrictions imposed by the Supreme Court, Kejriwal will not be able to work as Chief Minister now. He will be able to sign only those important files which have to be sent to the Lieutenant Governor. AAP believes that clarification will have to be sought from the Supreme Court regarding its meetings including cabinet expansion. Senior leader Manish Sisodia has also indicated that he can approach the court in this regard.

In fact, the Supreme Court has granted conditional bail to Arvind Kejriwal. After coming out of jail, Kejriwal will not be able to go to the Chief Minister’s Office and Delhi Secretariat. At the same time, he will not sign any government file unless it is necessary. These will be the same files that are to be sent to the Lieutenant Governor. Due to this, cabinet meetings, its expansion and other work will not be allowed.

AAP’s legal team also believes that the court has imposed restrictions on the work of the Chief Minister while the expansion of the Delhi Cabinet is pending. After the resignation of former minister Rajkumar Anand, one post in the cabinet is vacant. At the same time, the Chief Minister will have to sign the cabinet note prepared from the cabinet meeting. There are many other important works, whose file does not have to be sent to the Lieutenant Governor. He will go to the court for clarification in all these matters. On this, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also says that if such conditions are challenged in the court, they will not stand.
